Washington, D.C. – The newly established Mission Assurance Institute issues this public call to Congress and national leaders to confront the urgent and largely unacknowledged vulnerabilities in America’s critical infrastructure—from telecommunications and energy systems to hospitals and transportation grids.
The Institute, formed by veteran cyber, engineering, and national security professionals, seeks to elevate the national conversation from mere compliance frameworks to real-world consequence awareness.
“America’s hospitals, pipelines, cloud platforms, and critical supply chains are now interconnected through fragile digital terrain that remains largely misunderstood,” said the Institute’s founding director. “Our adversaries know this terrain. They’re encircling it. We’re still arguing over PowerPoint slides.”
The Institute warns that foreign-manufactured technologies, sovereign data laws like those of the People’s Republic of China, and underregulated routing systems are converging into a perfect storm of silent risk. “We are witnessing a strategic encirclement of global information flows—an economic and geopolitical cybernet—designed to capture control,” the statement reads.
The Institute urges:
Acknowledgment of the terrain-driven vulnerabilities in modern infrastructure;
Real-time consequence modeling of outages and system failures;
Oversight of foreign update mandates and autonomous system routing;
A shift from checklist-based security to mission assurance grounded in consequence.
The Institute calls on public and private partners to support its efforts, participate in its forthcoming Cyber Fire™ lecture series, and join the movement toward consequence-informed governance.
“Mission assurance requires eyes on the horizon—not just a review of where we’ve been.”
